Autotec Engineering Services (a.k.a. Ajith Motors and Enterprise) is a trading company which imports and distributes motor bicycles and vehicle spare parts. They are involved in both Wholesale and Retail sales of the goods.
Autotec has two locations that they operate from, with the outlet at Maradana acting as their Retail sales location and the outlet in Horana dealing with their wholesale operations.
The company had been searching for a comprehensive system that could handle their Import transactions as well as their local transactions, when they were introduced to the FiNAC software solution. Building Materials Corporation
Building Materials Corporation was established in 1971 and converted to a limited liability company fully owned by the General Treasury in 1992. BMC is the only government institution engaged in supplying, distributing, importing and marketing of quality building materials in Sri Lanka.

Dial Textile Industries began commercial operations in 1980 to manufacture haute couture apparel for the European market. Their foreign shareholder, Adolf Ahlers AG, is a quoted company operating internationally in the fashion industry. By the end of September 2000, Dial Textile Industries had invested approximately Rs 600 million in producing jackets and jeans for Ahlers. EAM Maliban Group
Founded in 1974, the EAM Maliban Group is now one of the largest apparel manufacturing and wet processing specialists in Sri Lanka. Production now exceeds 15 million pieces a year in woven garments and 15 million pieces a year in garment wet processing. The group has implemented the Payroll and the Time Attendance modules of the FiNAC software solution. Before the implementation of the FiNAC system, they had been using an out of date system which error ridden and required manual completion of work.
But the FiNAC system has given the Maliban group the ability to maintain a fully automated record system. The FiNAC system, unlike the previous system was able to calculate the salary for each employee based on the number of days that they attended work. Also the OT salary calculations were based upon only OT hours which had been approved by the HR department. The required data for these were drawn in from the time attendance module.
Another feature of the Payroll that the earlier system had lacked was the ability to calculate employee bonus, gratuity and other values in to the salary. Also the EPF and ETF documents for the employees were produced by the system itself. The system maintains all the necessary history of the employees and their salaries allowing them to be accessed on demand.

Globe Knitting (Pvt) Ltd, a Dutch based company was founded under the Board of Investment and currently has been certified with ISO 9001:2000 Standards. Queens Café is a restaurant that provides a wide range of a la carte menus and has a catering and home delivery services within the Colombo limits. Their main outlet is based in Colpetty. They have recently opened a new branch at Mount Lavinia.
The company has over five years of experience and have established themselves within this time as a reputed family restaurant with over 110 employees. They offer a wide range of cuisines ranging from Chinese, Indian and European, with a variety of over 400 dishes.
Prior to the implementation of the FiNAC software solution they used a regular cash register, with which they faced many difficulties. Generating reports and assessing sales and checking daily accounts had to be done manually.
Any special food items requested by the customer had to be programmed into the cash register manually and records regarding these could not be maintained. Another major drawback of this method was that records of raw material could not be maintained.

Star Garments is a well established BOI company, which has been a pioneer investor in Sri Lanka with its first plant being set up in 1978 in the BOI’s Katunayake Export Processing Zone. With its massive employee numbers, a major problem for Star Garments was managing their Payroll to ensure that all the salaries were paid correctly. They were using a DOS based payroll system, but its limited performance and inability to handle dynamic situations made it obsolete.

Tokyo Cements the deal with FINAC
Tokyo Cement group, Sri Lanka’s no.1 cement supplier, with a portfolio of brands such as MITSUI, ATLAS, SAMUDRA and POZZALANA, have installed and implemented a total FINAC integrated solution in all their companies and subsidiaries including Ready Mix and Samudra Cement.
The group has linked their operations, located in Trincomalee, Colombo Port and the Ready Mix plant, to the head office to enable group consolidation and centralized control.
For example, invoicing takes place at Trincomalee and credit limits are set in Colombo for the Trincomalee customers. Invoices are transferred along with the trial balance for consolidation in Colombo. The final account consolidation is achieved through a hierarchical set of chart of accounts.
While the system remains updated online, at the various locations the flow of information to the head office also remains up to date using a very cost effective communication system.
